The absolute truth is, it’s really not difficult. It’s as simple as embarking on an adventurous journey of self discovery. You were indeed created unique, distinct and original. Go and find that original YOU.
Have you ever been caught in the comparison trap?
Always feeling like you have to out-do someone else?
Always looking over your shoulder to make sure no one is peeking at your ideas?
Do you cringe at other peoples’ achievement because you feel less successful?
Or even feel jealous because you couldn’t beat them? The success of others can only sting you when you are competing with others and trying so hard to be like them.
You seriously do not have to be bothered about anyone else but yourself. You are really all you need to be amazing, that’s the way God made it and that’s the way it will always be.
You are a star, like an original work of art. There is no one out there who has your unique skills, strengths, experiences and passion. Biological science has proven this to be true. If you have any doubts, then look for two individuals with identical finger-prints.
The simplest way to be successful and happy with what you do is to find YOU and sell YOU. That different and outstanding flavor about you is what people want to perceive and receive. Trying to be a copy of someone else is very destructive to your original purpose and destiny.
The best thing that happened to me was discovering ME! Being clear about who I really am has been my biggest inspiration. I keep saying that “my passion is fueled by the discovery of my purpose”.
The reason I started the CAPTURE YOUR C.H.A.R.M. series, is to help other people discover their purpose, wherein lies their true potentials. C.H.A.R.M. stands for
C- Clarity
H- Harmony
A- Appeal
R-Relaxation
M- Motivation.
Until you discover your purpose, you’ll keep feeling that some people are just born to be more successful than others or that some set of people will always have more privileges and opportunities than others.
Purposes differ, so do potentials. Your natural abilities are just the function of your original purpose. For example if Mr. A originally possesses very good communication and presentation skills, it means that he will most likely be a very successful public speaker. On the other hand, if Mr. B is naturally strategic and has innovative abilities, he would be successful as an engineer. So Mr. B need not feel insecure or jealous of Mr. A because he already realizes his own uniqueness. In essence, your strengths could be someone else’s weakness and your weakness could be their strength that makes them unique. Never compare!
Do you want to be a star? Do you want to capture your C.H.A.R.M.? The first step to being unique is C.L.A.R.I.T.Y. Being very clear about who you are and what you can achieve can be done with the help of the following steps:
C- Create time. Find a quiet corner, open up your mind to possibilities, do some serious thinking or what they call “soul searching”. I remember a story told of Bill gates as a young boy. When he wouldn’t leave his room to go have his meal, his mum asked what he was doing, he said he was “thinking”.
L- Learn about YOU. We often spend more time learning about others, especially those who are successful, than we spend learning about ourselves. No doubt, successful people inspire me too, but my biggest inspiration is me. The fact that you can be as great as you can imagine should be your biggest inspiration. Discover YOU with these clear questions:
- What do you love doing and want to do as much as possible?
- What can you do for fun and feel fulfilled about?
- What are your talents that other people notice and value?
A- Assess Yourself. I have come across a number of online assessment tools you can try out. I tried this one http://www.41q.com .The additional self assessment will give you more clarity about your discovery of YOU. It will highlight your strengths so you can further develop those natural qualities and be the most successful YOU.
R- Relate. Relate with people around you regularly then ask those you can trust what they think you are good at. This is very essential. Some of the qualities you take for granted could be what stands YOU out. You could use this simple questionnaire:
- What do you feel are my 3 best qualities?
- What 3 words would you use to describe me?
- What other comments and/or observations would you like to share?
Please, if you know me well enough, I would be delighted if you could answer the questionnaire about me and post your response as a comment on the article. Thank you!
I- Identify. Identify the major points in the various assessments. The qualities that are dominant from the discovery process should be taken into serious consideration. Reflect on them deeply one after the other.
T- Tie-up. Make a sum of all your qualities and strengths so you can narrow them down to a simple purpose. It helps you build focus which is very essential in fulfilling purpose.
Y- Yes to YOU. Yippee!! Yes, YOU can be successful. You finally have discovered who you really are and what you are capable of achieving. If you can hold your fist so tight, punch in the air and shout YES! with excitement, go right ahead. You are now on your path to greatness. Good luck dear friend!
